University of Arizona Microbial Observatory
In 2006, Kartchner Caverns was added to the National Science Foundation`s worldwide network of Microbial Observatories. The goal of the Microbial Observatories program is to study and describe the phylogenetic (who is there) and functional (what do they do) diversity of microbial communities on the beautiful formations found in the cave. Kartchner Caverns is the only cave in the network. The Kartchner Caverns Microbial Observatory is a collaboration between the laboratories of four investigators at the University of Arizona: Dr. Raina Maier, Dr. Leland S. Pierson III, Dr. Barry M. Prior, and Dr. Rod Wing.
In the summer of 2009, NetOutcomes was retained by the Friends of Kartchner Caverns to completely rebuild our Website. As this work progressed, NetOutcomes proved to be a valuable creative partner in this endeavor and went well beyond their vendor scope of work. At no charge they helped us clarify ownership of multiple domain names that had accumulated over the past decade. Once we knew what we had they helped us to transfer and update the required registrations. They continue to provide advice and programming related to search engine optimization and our online marketing efforts. We count ourselves lucky to have been able to work with this fine team.
